Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach

Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach is a state beach located in the city of Alameda, California, on central Alameda Island and Bay Farm Island. It is administered by the East Bay Regional Park District and California State Parks. The beach features an artificial lagoon for swimming and windsurfing that is protected from the open bay by a large man-made breakwater barrier. There are also picnic areas, a fishing pier, and a boat ramp. The beach is located at the eastern end of Park Street, which terminates at the entrance to the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum complex.
The lagoon was created in 1950 when the State of California constructed a breakwater to create an enclosed swimming area. The original lagoon was small and had poor circulation. In 1963, the state added a second breakwater to enlarge the lagoon. In 1965, the lagoon was again enlarged and improved with the addition of a tidal flow through the channel. The current lagoon is approximately 1 mile long and 400 feet wide.

Dashe Cellars

Dashe Cellars was founded in 1996 by husband and wife team Michael and Anne Dashe. Michael is the winemaker, and his focus is on producing dry farmed, terroir-driven Zinfandel and Petite Sirah from some of California’s best old vineyards. The Dashe wines are made using traditional techniques, with native yeasts and minimal intervention.
The Dashe tasting room is located in the historic Jack London Village in Glen Ellen, and is open daily from 11 am to 5 pm. Tastings are $10 per person, and include a selection of five wines. Reservations are not required, but are recommended for groups of six or more.

Camron-Stanford House
